On
April 1st, 2009 the State of Florida implemented a new state-wide
Plumbing code relating to grease traps.
The
new Florida Code language has adopted a much stricter national
standard relating to grease traps. These standards, now required
by the Florida Plumbing Code, are performance based standards.
They require that grease traps must now remove at least 90%
of the FOGs (fats, oils, and greases). They also require third-party
testing, by a recognized and approved testing labaratory.
